In 2018 the Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House completed a parklet outside of their building as a space for community members to gather. They used upcycling as a method to gather materials for the park, and as a result, kept waste out of the landfill. In addition to this permanent improvement to its community, the organization also provides childcare, support for newcomers, employment services, and food and literacy programs:
