Cloud Seeding is a form of weather modification that has many uses. It begins with strategically placed structures that have a number of flares attached to them. The flares are then ignited and shot at a passing weather event such as a storm, the silver iodide within the flare assists with the generation and buildup of ice in the clouds. The benefit of cloud seeding is that it has the potential to increase rain and snowfall in areas that are in need of such weather as well as reduce the size of hail and limit fog build up. Weather conditions are closely monitored to ensure that any seeding has the desired positive effect.
