The company Tesla created its Tesla Energy business in 2015 and has increased energy storage deployments each year. Tesla has introduced large scale energy storage systems in South Australia, Hawaii and American Samoa which all store solar generated electricity. Tesla is now looking at introducing even larger energy storage systems and one day hopes to use these power cities. Of course, Tesla is not the only company looking to invest in this trend, a huge number of startups have emerged all looking at the most cutting edge energy storage solutions. Energy storage will be crucial in coming years as more consumers move to electric vehicles and governments and companies seek to overhaul aging grid systems. If energy storage can become advanced enough it may well be the kickstart we need to make the transition to a fully green renewable energy system.
