Tiny home village for homeless veterans gets nod from Edmonton council

Housing

Summary

Edmonton’s City Council approved the construction of a tiny home village for the city’s homeless veteran population. The project is set to be built on one acre of land, located in the Evansdale community. The village will comprise twenty-one 300 square foot homes, a resources centre, completed with a counselling office. Homes for Heroes, the non-profit group that pitched the idea, had built a similar community in the City of Calgary in 2019. The organization is applying for their building permits in hopes of starting construction this year, aiming to be available for occupancy by the end of the year or early spring of next year.
