Dallas’ new “Nature District” will be the biggest urban park in America

Dallas is set to build one of the U.S.’s largest urban nature parks. The “Nature District” will cover 10,000 acres, including 7,000 acres of the Great Trinity Forest. The park, called the Trinity River Park, is designed by Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates and could transform a floodplain into a recreation space.
The park will provide access to playgrounds, lawns, and riverside trails. The park is designed in a way to enhance the natural beauty of the space while minimizing flood damage in Dallas; due to collaboration with government engineers.
Additionally, 1,000 acres have been dedicated to a golf club, the Texas Horse Park, and the Trinity River Audubon Center, which boasts a nature center for children and event spaces. The park will also include 73 miles of connected trails, with the first two and a half already open. The project received a huge boost from a $50 million donation, which will help the park redefine Dallas.
